Accreditation/Affiliations

Neenah, Wisconsin, March 28, 2023 – The Board of Directors and Amy G. Moorefield, Executive Director of Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass are delighted to announce that the museum has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. 

“The process is an extraordinarily thorough review of every aspect of the museum’s operation and we’re very proud of this achievement,” says Walt Koskinen, Board President.

 “Originally awarded accreditation in 1974, the museum is one of only 21 museums in the State of Wisconsin to currently be accredited.  We are so grateful to American Alliance of Museums for their support and believing in Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass for 48 years,” comments Amy G. Moorefield, Executive Director.

The museum is also an active member of Wisconsin Federation of Museums. Wisconsin Federation of Museums (WFM) Membership is open to all museum professionals, volunteers, and those interested in pursuing a career in museums. WFM Member Institutions often participate in regional and statewide activities, such as the annual meeting, roundtables, workshops, and lectures and promote museums throughout Wisconsin.

In addition, Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass is a member of the Association of Midwest Museums, the American Association of State and Local History and Arts Wisconsin.

Glass Organizations

Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass is also a member of the Paperweight Collector’s Association, Inc. (PCA). The mission of the PCA is to promote education: to increase knowledge about paperweights, their creators, and the astounding glass medium from which they are created.

The museum is also a member of the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG).  AACG is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to further the development and appreciation of art made from glass. In addition, the museum is a member of the Midwest Contemporary Art Glass Group as well as the Glass Art Society.
