The AACG Wisconsin Artists Series continues on July 9 and 16 with two presentations.

Lisa Koch

6:00 p.m. CST on 7/9/2020

To be held on the museum’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/BMMGLASS/.

Madison-based artist Lisa Koch began her career as a scientist researching cell division. Her passion for the arts drove her towards an MFA in Sculptural and Dimensional Studies with an emphasis in glass. “The cloud imagery in my work is symbolic of the travel of matter (in this case, water) around the earth, without knowing its history. Imagine how water moves around the earth – how did that glass of water travel to be in front of you? One molecule may have rained down in India, flowed to the ocean, swirled around for decades, evaporated into a cloud, and rained down in California where it was purified and bottled. My work investigates these processes and the mixing of information that takes place.”

Kristin Thielking and Lisa Beth Robinson

6:00 p.m. CST on 7/16/2020

Live on Zoom

Artists Lisa Beth Robinson and Kristin Thielking sit down with Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Casey Eichhorn to discuss their ongoing work with the Catching a Wave Collective, a collaborative partnership between universities, organizations and scholars based in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland. Partnering with John McCord and the Coastal Studies Institute at East Carolina University, Robinson and Thielking set out to create a three-dimensional image of the surface of a wave, which would later be represented in the form of cast glass wavelets – previously on display at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass as part of Sharper Edges: Women Working on the Edge of Glass.

Registration for the Zoom session is free and available here.
